Bigger Bus for Sideways South Temecula Wine Tour

Response to the Sideways South Temecula Wine Tour has been so great we've had to get a bigger bus. And that gives us room for a few more Press Club adventurers to explore the wonders of wine, food and good times.

We'll be staying at the beautiful Temecula Creek Inn which boasts a beautiful 27 hole golf course. It also boasts one of region's finest restaurants, The Temet Grill, where we experience wonderful Sunday brunch.

Here's the final scoop on the trip!

Saturday, April 30:

Meet at the Temecula Creek Inn, check-in will begin at 9 a.m.

9:45 a.m. - Wine Tasting 101 and warm-up, where you'll learn secrets to tasting fine wine and practice until you think you have it rightÖ appropriate snacks will be served as well. Welcome by Linda Kissam, executive director of the Temecula Wine Growers Association.

10:45 a.m. - Everyone boards the Grape Express bus to begin the Sideways South tour. During our visits and tasting at various wineries, we'll enjoy the personal greetings and expertise of the winemakers and owners. We'll have lunch in the Callaway vineyards catered by Allies Restaurant. We'll continue our tour and arrive back to the Temecula Creek Inn around 4 p.m.

6:00 p.m. - Back on the bus for an exclusive San Diego Press Club reception at Thornton Winery, where we'll meet many of the wines and winemakers we didn't have time to visit. Appetizers will be available between sips.

The day will end with a special gourmet winemaker dinner at Thornton Winery hosted by winemaker Don Reha. Each delicious course will be matched with a wonderful wine from Thornton.

Happy and full, we'll crawl onto the Grape Express to be whisked away to our rooms.

Sunday, May 1:

Breakfast: Before heading home on Sunday, we'll enjoy a gourmet champagne and Bloody Mary brunch at the Temecula Creek Inn. This is one of the best brunches in Southern California, served in a dining room overlooking the golf course. It can be enjoyed at your leisure from mid morning to early afternoon.
