Legends Snack on Politics at Lunch October 29 By Cathy Clark What: Legends Annual Luncheon When: 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005 Social Hour: 11-12 Lunch: 12-1:30 No-host bar for the duration Where: Shelter Pointe Hotel, 1551 Shelter Island Dr., San Diego $2 parking in lot; lots of free street parking Who: Guest speakers Lionel Van Deerlin, columnist, former Congressman and newspaperman; Larry Thomas, Irvine Co. Group Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, former reporter and media relations manager for a governor (George Deukmejian), a mayor (Pete Wilson), a vice president (George H. W. Bush) and two major California corporations. The Legends is a gathering of many of the Press Club's now-retired former journalists and public relations people. The luncheon is a chance to get together, talk about old times, renew friendships and discuss current events in the city and county most still call home. We encourage anyone who'd like to come to join the fun. It's a great way for working journalists and public relations people to gain perspective on San Diego. Van Deerlin and Thomas are two highly regarded men whose experiences in journalism, politics and public affairs assure a lively afternoon. Both will have great stories about their work ģin the businessī and they'll surely be encouraged to give us their thoughts on San Diego today. The luncheon costs $20 per person. Reservations can be made through the San Diego Press Club office. A mailer will go out in early September to the ģLegendsī mailing list and anyone else who expresses an interest. Posted July 2005 |
