No bubbles or chads in this election By Andrew Kleske A jam-packed slate of talented candidates made the race hard, but, barring any lawsuits or Supreme Court intervention, the Press Club's members picked their new directors. While Donna Frye got one write-in vote, the voter failed to fill in the bubble. It wouldn't have helped anyway, at least that's our story and we're sticking to it. Named to fill new three-year terms are: Reid Carroll, retired broadcaster and Past President of the San Diego Press Club. Gayle Falkenthal, also a past President, former broadcast editor and producer who now owns a public relations practice, the Falcon Valley Group. Robert Griswold, real estate expert for NBC 7/39; News Radio 600 KOGO, San Diego Union-Tribune Homes section, columnist, and author of two books. Ron James, SignOnSanDiego.com manager, past president of the Press Club and Road Trips committee chairman. Gloria Penner, past president of the Press Club and long time KPBS Television and Radio journalist. Kara Snow, editor of the La Jolla Light and executive editor for the Del Mar Times, the Solana Beach Sun and the Carmel Valley Leader. Laura Walcher, seasoned public relations professional and a dedicated member/director of the Press Club. Returning to the board are Beth Accomando, Kim Edwards, Ron James, Andrew Kleske, Jan Percival Lipscomb, Kristie Macris, Dennis Morgigno, Dean Nelson, and Ana Tintocalis. The club's new officers will be announced at the Press Club's annual meeting, AKA the 2005 Journalism Awards on October 27. Posted Oct. 2005 |
