Wide Spectrum Of Winners Honored At 32nd Annual Press Club Journalism Awards Ceremony By Gayle Falkenthal Complete List of Awards Winners San Diego's finest reporters, photographers, writers and artists were honored with the region's top awards in journalism at the San Diego Press Club's 32nd annual Journalism Awards at the Shelter Pointe Resort & Marina. The boisterous crowd of over 350 people enjoyed mixing with colleagues and competitors alike. "This year's event highlighted the wide variety of talent and coverage by San Diego's news media at every level, in every type of medium," said Robert Griswold, San Diego Press Club President and author, broadcast and print columnist. "On behalf of the entire board and the Journalism Awards Committee, the Press Club is proud to recognize our region's best in print, broadcast and online journalism." Winners were selected from over 1,000 entries, making the San Diego Press Club's Journalism Awards among the largest regional competitions in the United States. More than 300 awards were presented in 103 categories. A full list of winners is available online at www.sdpressclub.com Coverage of the ongoing scandals and financial woes at San Diego City Hall, the San Diego Food Bank, and other ethical challenges in San Diego County garnered multiple awards, but a wide array of topics and their treatment garnered the judges' attention. Many first-time winners came to the podium, including representatives of Voice Of San Diego, Turbula,net, Today's Local News, USD Magazine, California Real Estate Journal, City TV, KLSD AM Radio, and KKSM AM Radio at Palomar College. In three instances, winners swept their entire category, winning first, second and third place awards. They are Andrew Dohohue, Voice Of San Diego, Daily Newspaper, Breaking News category; Lucas Turnbloom, Southern Cross, Non-Daily Newspaper, Drawing/Illustration; and Pat Broderick, San Diego Business Journal, Non-Daily Newspaper, Criminal Justice Among multiple award winners, four individuals received three first place awards apiece among their honors: Phil Farrar, Jamie Reno, Rick Bell, and Lucas Turnbloom. Turnbloom was the night's most honored journalist, with three first place awards, two second place awards, and one third place award for his work in the Southern Cross.
